Slogan

I don't like to post a blurry photo, but I only noticed this poster today in time to get one quick snap of it. I was on a BART train, getting off at Mission Station in San Francisco, and the doors were about to close.

Smuin Ballet is an independent dance company founded 15 years ago by the late Michael Smuin, a former artistic director of San Francisco Ballet. The figure in the photo is apparently morphing mid-air between a guitar-wielding rock star and a classical-looking male dancer (wearing pink slippers, please note). This image, as I read it, reflects the well-known Broadway-Pop aesthetic of the founder, whose spirit evidently lives on vigorously.

This spirit is perfectly expressed in the company's new three-word slogan in turquoise capitals at lower left:

BALLET BUT ENTERTAINING
