Genuine Oils

Quite a fair number of forgotten paintings hang on the walls of the San Francisco library where I work. Some are in conference rooms, some are in hallways, most unattributed and unlabeled, worthies of yesteryear or clumsy representations of myths that nobody much cares about anymore. Before the building was open this morning, I was up on the third floor locating a book. Most of the lights had not been turned on yet and I decided to find out how these faces would look close up (without flash) emerging from their nocturnal dimness.
